Workers Electrocuted at New Jersey Construction Site
Fatal Construction Accident in Woodbridge Township, NJ
A tragic construction site accident in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey left one worker dead and two others seriously injured in the early morning of Friday, October 11th.
The incident, which involved the electrocution of the workers, happened when a 40-foot pole from a scaffolding fell and hit high-tension wires near the construction site.
The workers were operating on Quincy Court to install siding when the incident occurred. Two of the workers tried to catch the falling pole and were electrocuted when it hit the wires.
Two of the construction workers were taken by EMS personnel to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where one was declared dead and the other was admitted in critical condition.
A third worker was taken to a Perth Amboy hospital for serious burns. All three workers were initially attended to by police officers on the scene who administered CPR to one of the workers until EMS personnel arrived.
Work at the construction site has been suspended until the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) completes an investigation.
A neighborhood resident described the incident as a “loud boom” followed by what felt like the entire area shaking. The witness noted that they saw the workers fall from the scaffolding when she looked out her window.
