Two injured in a pedestrian-truck accident in Hoboken
New Jersey residents are aware that accidents occur on their local streets, but when a tragic incident occurs, it tends to shock the members of the community. An accident involving pedestrians can result in very severe damages and often causes serious injuries and even death. All drivers should use caution and reduce speeds in residential and commercial areas. It is also important that pedestrians use crosswalks and follow traffic signals.
Authorities rushed two pedestrians to the hospital recently after a pickup truck struck them in front of a local deli. Witnesses claim that they saw the truck hit the pedestrians. Details of the incident have not been released at this time, but emergency crews responded and quickly transported the two injured people to the hospital. The man had to undergo emergency surgery and was admitted to the intensive care unit. The driver of the truck had no reported injuries and has refused to comment on the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
The investigation of this pedestrian-truck accident is ongoing. A person injured in an accident like this may be able to file a personal injury claim for the injuries that he or she suffered. Compensation from the claim could assist with medical bills, lost wages, rehabilitation and pain and suffering.
Injuries resulting in a pedestrian-vehicle accident can be very severe. It is crucial that drivers remain attentive at all times, avoid texting while driving, reduce speeds in areas where pedestrians frequent and yield at crosswalks.
