Survivor of a distracted driving accident raises awareness
Being involved in a serious accident can be life altering. Surviving a car accident after suffering life-threatening injuries can impact a person significantly. Not only do they often have to endure a tremendous amount of medical treatment and rehabilitation, but surviving the incident could change a person’s outlook on life and how they continue to live it. Although the financial burdens that result after a serious automobile accident could impact the life of an injured party, it is often the fact that the person survived the incident that significantly changes the injured person’s life.
A 16-year-old survivor from a deadly car accident last summer is now working to save others from distracted drivers on the road. The young girl suffered a heart wound, collapsing lungs, two broken legs and other injuries in an automobile accident. It was later determined that the accident was caused by a distracted driver. After numerous surgeries and a long recovery, she survived her life threatening injuries.
She later took it upon herself to campaign and raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. The young girl recently presented the hospital staff that saved her life with a check for $3,000 from the money she raised in her campaign. In her fight against distracted driving, she raises awareness about the dangers of eating or drinking while driving, playing with the radio, talking on the phone and texting while driving.
A person injured in a distracted driving accident could file a personal injury claim. The compensation awarded in the suit could go towards medical bills, rehabilitation, damages and pain and suffering. Injuries suffered in a car accident can be severe. This could cause a financial burden while on the path to recovery, which can be long and emotional as it is.
