Pedestrian accidents: Woman hit by a saw blade while walking

A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a neighboring state after getting hit by a saw blade while walking on a city sidewalk. The woman was struck in the leg after a saw blade was ejected by a circular saw and flew 100 feet before hitting her. This pedestrian accident occurred on a recent Tuesday as a construction crew worked in the area.

According to police, the three-foot wide saw blade that injured the woman is normally used for the purpose of cutting concrete at construction sites. Authorities believe that the saw blade broke free and went up into the air. It then ricocheted off of a nearby tree in the direction of the woman. She suffered a deep gash wound on her leg as a result of the accident.

The woman was rushed to the hospital to get treatment for her injuries. However, at this time her immediate condition remains unknown. Police have released information relating to the construction company that may have been responsible for the incident. Following the accident, the company was ordered by the New York City Department of Design and Construction to refrain from using saws until a complete investigation and inspection had been conducted to determine safety of the company’s equipment.

It is hoped that the woman injured in this pedestrian accident makes a speedy recovery. Investigations into accidents like this could reveal that one or more individuals were at fault and possibly liable for the resulting injuries and damages. For this reason, it is important for those harmed in pedestrian accidents to look carefully at police reports, eyewitness testimony and any other factors preceding the incident.
