Multi-car crash seriously injuries woman after thrown out of car
Sometimes people get distracted by the things going on around them. One place a person should not get distracted is behind the wheel. Like people all throughout the country, Monmouth area residents may be tempted to pass the time during short and long drives by using their phone. But, when a driver takes their eyes off the road even for just a moment, they increase the likelihood of being involved in an accident.
Police are investigating a car accident that seriously injured a woman. The crash occurred when a Kia sedan was traveling towards an intersection. The driver of the Kia allegedly had the red light but continued through the intersection. This caused the Kia to collide with a Chrysler Sebring which reportedly had a green light.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found that both vehicles sustained extensive damage. A woman from one of the vehicles was ejected from the vehicle and was found unconscious at the scene of the accident. The woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A total of four victims suffered some type of injury from the collision and all received medical evaluation and treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation although it has been presumed that the driver of the Kia was negligent and went through a red light. If liability is determined, the driver could be liable for any personal injury claims filed by an injured party. The claim could result in compensation that would help with any financial burdens that resulted from the crash. This would include medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, damages and pain and suffering.
Distracted driving is very dangerous and can have adverse affects. Not only could an accident follow this negligent act, but also serious injuries, severe damages and even fatalities could result. Drivers should avoid any distractions while they are behind the wheel.
