Lost truck driver kills three while making illegal U-turn
New Jersey drivers understand that driving on new or different roadway could cause them to become hesitant while they travel on the road. When a driver is unsure where they are going, what exit to take or is lost, they might behave differently. The driver might travel slower, attempt to turn around or pull over to get directions. Although this could cause the driver to be extra cautious on the road, it could also lead to drivers overlooking some dangers on the road. Unfortunately, this could result in an accident.
A recent truck accident in Lawrence is being investigated by authorities and has resulted in the arrest and charging of the truck driver. The accident occurred on Route 1 and involved a tractor-trailer and an SUV. According to the preliminary reports, the driver of the tractor-trailer was lost and allegedly made an illegal U-turn on the roadway. While making the illegal turn from the right lane, the truck crossed the path of the SUV that was traveling in the left lane.
The two vehicles collided and the impact caused the SUV vehicle to become wedged underneath the truck. Emergency crews responded to the accident and found the female driver and her two young sons dead at the scene. The fatal truck accident is still under investigation, but the truck driver was arrested and charged with three counts of death by automobile.
In addition to facing criminal liabilities, the truck driver could face civil claims. The loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death suit. This suit could result in compensation to cover funeral costs, damages, lost wages and pain and suffering.
A fatal collision can occur due to negligence on the roadway. A negligent driver could seriously affect the lives of numerous people. The loved ones of the deceased could suffer serious financial burdens and compensation could help reduce that hardship.
