Five students injured in a bus crash in Salem County
Both residents and students use mass transit vehicles like buses frequently, often on a daily basis. However, accidents involving buses can result in personal injuries to the numerous passengers in the vehicle. Not only are buses crowed with passengers, but they also do not have safety features, like seatbelts, common in most other types of vehicles.
Recently, a school bus traveling in Salem County was in an accident near the intersection of Daretown Road and Slabtown Road. The bus was carrying approximately 30 students when the accident involving two other vehicles occurred. Emergency crews responded to the incident and assisted children in using the emergency exit in the rear of the bus to get out. After assessing everyone involved, five students were taken to the hospital for further medical treatment and for precautionary reasons. Details about their injuries are not known at this time, but there were no fatalities or life-threatening injuries reported.
The bus accident is still being investigated and details surrounding the crash between the bus and the other two vehicles were not provided. Authorities have not determined or alleged the cause of the accident. A bus accident can involve numerous people, and when a passenger on a bus is injured in an accident like this, he or she might have a personal injury claim if the party responsible for the accident was negligent in some way. Compensation from a claim like this often goes towards any cost incurred from the incident. Expenses such as medial bills, damages and pain and suffering are often covered.
Early morning and evening commutes often mean that travels going to and from work are not only in rush hour traffic, but they also require sharing the road with large mass transit vehicles, such as buses. An accident involving a bus could affect a massive number of people. When injuries result, an experienced bus accident attorney can help file claims to recover damages when appropriate.
