Driver arrested after killing one in high-speed pursuit
Drivers in New Jersey will often notice some vehicles traveling above the speed limit. Whether it is because they are running late or enjoy traveling at higher speeds, this behavior is very dangerous and could result in a serious car accident. A negligent driver could seriously injure themselves or others. Furthermore, they could cause a fatal car accident.
New Jersey authorities recently arrested a 28-year-old driver following a fatal automobile collision. The driver of an SUV had left an earlier accident, and when officers pulled him over, the driver sped away. This resulted in the speeding car colliding with three other vehicles. Near the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Huron Road, a 22-year-old died when he crashed with the speeding driver.
Police apprehended the driver who was then charged with manslaughter, vehicular homicide and eluding police. In addition to facing serious criminal charges, the driver could face harsh civil liabilities. The loved ones of the young man killed in the accident could file a wrongful death suit. This could help cover the costs for medical bills, funeral costs, damages, lost wages and pain and suffering.
A negligent driver can pose huge threats to other drivers on the roadway. Whether they are speeding, texting while driving or traveling too closely, a negligent driver could cause a severe accident resulting in injuries or even death. A person or a loved one affected by a negligent driver should understand their rights and options. This is especially true if they seek to file for compensation.
