Car wedged beneath truck in New Jersey truck accident
The safety and well-being of drivers on the road is important to residents of New Jersey. When a truck accident occurs, the amount of damage that results can be tremendous and tragic. When compared to a car, a truck is not only much larger in size, but also lacks the ability to quickly maneuver in the event of a road hazard. A multi-vehicle collision involving a truck can cause a large accident site that could create hazards for other drivers.
Recently, a tractor-trailer accident occurred with a passenger vehicle in the early afternoon in Warren County. The car was traveling down the center lane of the road when, according to the report, it suddenly lost control. The vehicle then became wedged beneath the tractor-trailer that was traveling in the left lane. The car was dragged for a short distance while it was stuck under the truck. The New Jersey Police Department responded to the incident, and emergency crews tended to the driver of the car. The driver suffered minor injuries, and authorities transported the driver to a hospital for treatment.
The accident is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. In particular, it is unclear what caused the vehicle to lose control – and if the truck was directly or indirectly involved in the lead up to the accident. However, as the investigation plays out, it is important to note that a person injured in an accident like this might be able to file a personal injury lawsuit should a review of the accident reveal negligence on the part of another. Compensation from the claim could assist with any medical bills, physical or property damages and pain a suffering that resulted from the truck crash.
Increasing safety on the roads means more than simply wearing a seatbelt and driving the speed limit. All drivers – including those operating commercial vehicles – need to be attentive, avoid distractive activities like texting while driving, follow posted signs and signals and slow down when there are hazards or accidents and in times of inclement weather.
