Attorney Justin Drazin Featured in Two River Times Q&A
Attorney Justin Drazin of Drazin & Warshaw P.C. recently took part in a question and answer session with The Two River Times in a segment called “Around Town Red Bank.” Mr. Drazin talked about the various questions he is asked by clients seeking legal counsel when involved in a car accident. Below, you will find a sample of the questions Mr. Drazin answered as well as the information he provided in the interview.
What if I am Injured in a Car Accident?
Mr. Drazin recommends seeking medical care as soon as possible after a car accident. He also recommends talking to the doctor or nurse about every ache, pain, or injury you have suffered, even the ones that aren’t so severe at the time. Delayed onset of pain is a real condition and it could take days for the pain to truly develop following an accident.
What Should I do at the Scene of a Car Accident?
Always call the police when involved in a car accident. Ask for medical evaluation and try to take pictures of the accident scene, the damage to the vehicles involved, and any other evidence that can help you make a claim. It’s also important that you speak to anyone who witnessed the accident. Write down their names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and ask them to provide a statement to the police officer who responded to the crash. Don’t forget to exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver(s) involved.
What Are the Most Important Parts of an Auto Policy?
The three most important parts of any auto insurance policy are the following:
- Underinsured motorist coverage
- Uninsured motorist coverage
- And whether you did or did not select a limitation threshold
It is in your best interest to select the ‘no threshold’ option on your auto insurance policy so that compensation is not limited if you are ever involved in an accident.
How Does No-Fault Auto Insurance Come into Play in New Jersey?
No matter who was at-fault in a New Jersey car accident, your insurance policy will cover necessary and reasonable medical treatment. This only happens if you notify your insurance provider of your injuries, follow their requirements for care, and follow the doctor’s orders. There could be copays and other fees associated with medical care, but it’s possible these fees could be covered by your policy.
Consult an Attorney
As always, it’s in your best interest to consult an attorney when involved in a car accident. The cost of medical care and repairs to your vehicle should not have to come out of your own pocket when you were not at-fault in the crash.
