3 injured in New Jersey car accident
A Readington Township accident left at least three people injured, authorities reported. The June 26 crash reportedly took place on Route 202 at approximately 11:45 a.m. and involved three vehicles.
Authorities suspect that one of the involved vehicles crossed the highway’s grassy median and entered into oncoming traffic. Following the collision, one of the three vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane of Route 202 while the other two came to rest in the northbound lane.
An ambulance transported one of the injured individuals to a hospital for treatment. The other two injured individuals were reportedly airlifted to trauma centers.
While the cause of this particular accident was unclear immediately following the incident, car accidents in general are often caused by reckless or negligent driving. For example, excessive speed is a common contributor to auto accidents. If drivers travel at speeds that are too fast for the roadway, they can lose control of their vehicles and collide with other vehicles. When that is the case, the people who suffer damages as a result of the accident may hold the speeding driver accountable for the incident in civil court.
For example, accident victims may file a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver, seeking compensation for hospital bills, medical expenses and the costs associated with rehabilitation and therapy. Moreover, accident victims may seek restitution for lost wages if their injuries prove to be disabling. Furthermore, certain family members of deceased accident victims may pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver. If successful, they may recover losses that they suffered in connection to the fatal accident.
